The Geography Teachers’ Association of NSW & ACT Inc. (GTANSW & ACT) is a member based professional teaching association. Membership is open to educators and others interested in Geography education.

An extensive program of professional development including the Annual Conference, Regional Conferences, Senior Geography Conference, Skills Workshops, Webinars, Online e-Learning Courses, Primary Geography Workshops at discounted member rates.
Discounted events for students:
Member schools receive discounted rates for student events such as the HSC Exam Preparation days.

Members receive:
- Four issues of the association journal – the Geography Bulletin (the Association’s full colour online journal). The journals provide professional reading, updates and reports on GTA activities, syllabus linked articles and resources, student workbooks, teaching strategies, online courses, news about what is happening in schools and Geography Education generally and resource reviews.

- PDF and Word documents containing student activities based each new journal
Personal Development opportunities:
Personal members are entitled to become involved in the professional association as members of the GTA Council by nominating for election at the AGM or becoming a co-opted member. As a councillor you can participate in event organisation, the production of resources and present at conferences and events. Activities performed as a GTA councillor are recognised as self – identified professional learning for NESA accreditation.

Membership provides access to the Members Only section of the website for current and past issues of the Geography Bulletin, conference presentations (PPT, Workshop materials, video recordings), webinars and other resources.
Special offers are made exclusively to members through the website e.g. publications from the Australian Geography Teachers Association.

Assistance on request:
GTANSW & ACT assists individual and school members who request assistance with syllabus implementation, program development, fieldwork and professional learning when appropriate and feasible.
